I graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS in 1992 with a background in business and marketing. I have been living in Middletown since I got married in 1995. I have 2 sons who are both in the Appoquinimink school district.
Sue and I were at a mutual friends baby shower and she was telling me about her dream to open a quality childcare center that would provide a curriculum for children to develop and built a strong foundation for their future. As I listen to Sue talk with passion for this goal, I found myself drawn to the idea and approached her about needing a partner.
With Sue's experience in education and my business background we knew we were a perfect match to offer the quality child care that we were both looking for. After a lot of research we found Kiddie Academy®. Seeing the curriculum and knowing we have the backing of over 30 years of experience we knew that this is what Middletown needed; a quality childcare center that offers a nurturing and loving environment that encourages our children to grow and learn.
We look forward to working with all of the families that join us in our journey in providing a quality and loving learning experience here at Kiddie Academy®.
I am so excited to have opened the Kiddie Academy® of Middletown. It is a dream that has been in the making since my twins were born! I have been teaching elementary school, here in Delaware for over 20 years. I currently teach in the Appoquinimink School District. In 1985, I graduated with my BS degree in Elementary Education in 1986 with my MS degree in education. In 1997, I was one of the first teachers in Delaware to become Nationally Board Certified. I am proud to say I just renewed my National Board status in 2007. When I'm not teaching, I enjoying being with my family, riding my bike, and golfing.
I love working with young children and feel that we can learn so much from them. I believe that the experiences that children have between the ages of birth to three years sets the stage for their learning in the future. There is nothing better than to see a childs face light up when they discover something for the first time, and with every first step and every new discovery I am reminded how truly special and meaningful my job really is. One thing that I hope the children and families at Kiddie Academy® will gain from their experiences with us is to be in a safe and healthy learning environment for them to play, learn, and develop to their fullest potential. Prior to coming to Kiddie Academy I was an interim Associate Director of the Infant/Toddler program and Master Teacher for the University Of Delaware Early Learning Center. While at the ELC I had the privilege of working with a variety of children and their families, university students, researchers and community members. I assisted in helping the center achieve NAEYC accreditation and becoming a model program in Early Care and Education. I have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and have worked in the field for the past eight years. I look forward in building a loving childcare community for our children and families that we serve at Kiddie Academy®. Community Involvement: - Early Care and Education Conference Presenter - CDA advisor - TECE 1 instructor - Community trainer for childcare providers
I graduated high school in 2004 from Polytechnic with my technical degree in child development, it was there I discovered my passion for early childhood. In 2010 I earned my Bachelors degree from Wilmington University with dual majoring in Special Education and Elementary Education.I have seen a part of the Kiddie Academy team since 2009. I began as a Pre-k teacher and loved every minute of it. Kiddie Academy gives children a solid foundation both academically and socially to succeed. As a teacher I gave my promise to my families to ensure their child's safety and to give them the respect and academic freedom to learn. Now I will continue to do so as Assistant Director to all of our families in Middletown.I have such a rewarding job working with wonderful families and co-workers. And now as I am starting my own family, I couldn't imagine a better place to to create an amazing future for my child than at Kiddie Academy of Middletown.
